Overview

Khentii, east of Ulaanbaatar, is the homeland of Chinggis Khaan, and few travellers come here. You ride through forest and steppe, camp by rivers, and reach Dadal on the Onon River, traditionally named as his birthplace.

  • The giant Chinggis Khaan statue at Tsonjin Boldog
  • Khökh Nuur, the lake where Temüjin is said to have been proclaimed khan
  • Riding through the river valleys of the Khentii mountains
  • Dadal and the Onon River, near the hill traditionally named as his birthplace
