Wrestling, horse racing and archery at Mongolia’s great summer festival, then out onto the steppe.
Naadam is Mongolia’s national festival, held every year from 11 to 13 July. You’ll be in Ulaanbaatar for the opening ceremony and the horse races, then head west into the grasslands, where life slows down again and you may catch a smaller country naadam.
